The list of French residence permits for which applications are submitted through ANEF has been extended
The digitization of administrative procedures concerning French immigration has taken a new small leap forward with the recent government decree of September 28, 2023, extending the list of residence permits for which applicants now have to use ANEF.
For context, ANEF stands for administration numérique des étrangers en France (digital administration of foreign nationals in France). It is an online platform created in 2020 with the aim of progressively centralizing and digitizing all the paperwork and obligations that specifically concern the foreign nationals established in France, not only applications for residence permits but also changes of address, declaration of loss of a residence card, applications for French naturalization, etc.
However this program is only gradually implemented and today only a limited part of all the French residence permits are already covered by this service.
With the recent decree in question, this list has been extended to the following types of permits :
- The residence permit granted to the foreign national that was taken care of by French social services (ASE) or by a trusted third party1.
- The residence permit granted to the foreign national, victim of human trafficking, and who filed a complaint2.
- The residence permit granted to the foreign national benefiting from a protection order (ordonnance de protection) due to domestic violence or the threat of forced marriage3.
- The residence permit issued for health reasons4.
- The residence permit granted to the foreign national, victim of an accident at work or occupational disease5.
